Definition - What does Recurrent mean?

Recurrent refers to a repeated or recurring condition or situation. With regards to medical and wellness terminology, this term frequently refers to a condition that returns after a remission.

A condition is recurrent if it occurs repeatedly, or returns after being eliminated or halted. For instance, pain that is intermittent may be called recurrent pain. A recurrent fever is one that returns after remission. Recurrent conditions can result in high absenteeism in the workplace.
