Supine is a body position in which a person is laying on their back and facing upward. Lying supine is the opposite of lying prone. This position is used in various medical tests when evaluating the musculoskeletal system.

The supine position may be part of various fit for work testing and injury evaluations. Having the client lay supine allows the assessor to access or stabilize the joint being tested. Laying supine also describes the position a worker may be in while working in certain jobs, such as while working under a vehicle.
