Definition - What does Tremor mean?

A tremor is an uncontrolled, spontaneous, and repetitive movement in the hands, arms, legs, or head caused by a movement disorder. The movement disorder is brought about by the part of the brain responsible for regulating the body's movements and is most commonly found in older people. A tremor can hamper daily activities or work performance depending on the severity of the condition. Tremors can be triggered by biological conditions, prescription medications, or illicit drug use.

SureHire explains Tremor

A tremor can originate from a variety of causes such as a stroke, brain damage, kidney or liver dysfunction, multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease. It can also be a side effect of caffeine, alcohol, amphetamines, anti-psychotics, corticosteroids, anti-depressants. Tremors are classified as being either resting or action tremors. A person with a tremor may experience difficulty in using their fine motor skills such as writing, eating, or sewing. Some tremors can be treated but not all can be resolved. While tremors may be a symptom of drug abuse or drug withdrawal, the presence of tremors alone is not enough to suspect drug abuse.
