COVID-19 Automated Health Risk Assessment Questionnaire

At SureHire, we are committed to our mandate of returning workers to a safe, healthy, and productive working environment. That's why we’ve developed the COVID-19 Automated Health Risk Assessment (HRA) Questionnaire. 

Pre-existing conditions (such as seasonal allergies, asthma, etc.) can mimic the symptoms of COVID-19, which can result in employees being unnecessarily flagged and sent off-site to self-isolate. The COVID-19 Automated HRA Questionnaire is designed to collect comparative data on a daily basis regarding the symptoms of pre-existing conditions, allowing employers to make more informed decisions about the health and safety of everyone on the job.

This fully automated program prompts participants to complete a daily questionnaire on their smart device prior to travelling to work. The data will then be reviewed to ensure that there are no red flags regarding their health. The program also has the ability to keep a record of daily temperature screening, antibody test results (pending Health Canada’s approval of antibody detection devices) and contact tracking (e.g. list of who a worker travelled to
site within a specific work vehicle).

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THE COVID-19 AUTOMATED HRA QUESTIONNAIRE?

SureHire’s HRA reduces the risk of worksite interruption from COVID-19 by providing critical data on worker symptoms related to pre-existing medical conditions (eg. seasonal allergies that exhibit symptoms of coughing and a runny nose, breathing difficulties related to asthma, etc.). This offers employers the ability to more effectively manage workers who have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, but who haven’t been officially diagnosed with COVID-19. This, in turn, reduces the risk of worker exposure to COVID-19 from co-workers. The automated program will prompt each worker to complete a daily questionnaire on their smart device prior to travelling to work. This data will then be reviewed to ensure that there are no red flags regarding
their health.

WHAT ARE THE DRAWBACKS OF THE OF THE COVID-19 AUTOMATED HRA QUESTIONNAIRE?

The questionnaire does not guarantee that a worker does not have COVID-19. The assessment relies on honest self-reporting, which may not always happen. Additionally, a worker with a pre-existing medical condition that has symptoms similar to COVID-19 can still contract the virus. This assessment is designed only to give employers more context around each worker’s health situation related to COVID-19, as well as ammunition to mitigate operational risk and worker risk through more informed and reasonable decision making.

ARE THERE PRIVACY ISSUES RELATED TO COLLECTING HEALTH INFORMATION?

There are no privacy issues related to collecting a worker’s health information because the information collected does not contain any identifying health information related to specific diagnosed medical illnesses or conditions. The assessment simply focuses on symptoms that can mimic COVID-19, so the responses collected from the questionnaires are not classified as health information.
