What is the Preemptive Clearance?
The Preemptive Clearance is a medical clearance form that can be filled out by a Fitness to Work candidate before they attend their test to get clearance for common, known medical conditions. The candidate is given this form by their recruiter or by the Contact Centre when an appointment is booked. If the candidate has any of the medical conditions listed on the form, or takes medication for a medical condition, they can fill out their section of the form and bring to their doctor for clearance. Their doctor fills out the section called the “Physician Section” giving clearance for Fitness to Work testing based on the medical conditions reported.
Why does this benefit the Fitness to Work Candidates?
This form streamlines testing for our Fitness to Work candidates by offering them the option to get clearance for their known medical conditions before they attend their appointment. The candidate will be more likely to complete their full Fitness to Work testing in the initial appointment. This is especially useful if a candidate has to travel to their test.
Why does this benefit the Company?
The Preemptive Clearance helps to reduce stoppages at the facility. More of your Fitness to Work candidates will complete their testing in a single visit and can be deployed to the job site more quickly. Using the Preemptive Clearance also gives the relaxed cut off levels for blood pressure, blood oxygenation, and heart rate meaning that you will see fewer stoppages for these concerns as well. If a candidate takes a safety sensitive medication they can also be cleared for this medication preemptively reducing the number of medication holds. All around, this form helps you mobilize your workforce in a faster, more efficient way, and reduces travel and accommodation costs for those candidates that need to travel for their testing.
*If a candidate is taking medicinal cannabis, opioids, or methadone please have them contact Fitness to Work Review at 1-866-944-4473 as these medications will require additional clearance because of their nature.
